Auchen Castle Wedding – Michelle & Darren
Auchen Castle Wedding
Michelle & Darren 03/09/19
It was not long after the last day of summer as we drove down the M74 heading to our first Auchen Castle Wedding of 2019. Glasgow was quickly swept away behind us as we drove through the heavy rain and wind, hoping for some calm weather as we approached Beattock.
The light was just starting to fade as we slowly drove up the well kept grounds of Auchen Castle, a stunning wedding venue in Beattock. Available as an exclusive use venue we soon saw some wedding guests catching breaths of fresh Scottish air.
The Castle itself sat proudly on the Beattock hills and even though the weather was not at it’s best the castle remained impressive and characterful. Stepping foot inside we were welcomed with the warmth and excitement in the air as the wedding guests waited for the dining room to be turned around.
We set up the Whisky Barrel photo booth in the ceremony room, directly adjacent to the dining room. Boasting high ceilings, intricate cornice and tons of space this was the perfect area for our rustic Whisky Barrel photo booth. Set up was super quick and simple at Auchen Castle so we took some time to explore the various rooms on the ground floor and we couldn’t help but be drawn to the stunning staircase.
It is no surprise that many brides & grooms request photos on this amazing staircase, you can only imagine how many brides and grooms have stood where they have over the many years. Featuring a large grand mirror as you descend the stairs. The happy couple see each other before making their first steps into the dining room as a married couple.
Despite the gloomy Scottish weather the view from the dining room at Auchen Castle still caught our eye. No matter the weather you are blessed with on your wedding day you are guaranteed to find some amazing photo opportunities around the grounds.
Michelle & Darren were so lovely and friendly and we were keen for everyone to start making use of the photo booth once the first dance had been. All of the guests were called into the dining room to welcome Michelle & Darren. Before we knew it the cake was cut and the party was in high spirits with the first few dances going down a storm.
We soon welcomed some eager guests who were waiting to have some fun in the photo booth. Approximately 40 – 50 guests were at Michelle & Darren’s wedding with a 2 hour hire of the Whisky Barrel photo booth. This allowed for plenty of time for everyone to make use of the booth and grab a selfie with each other. Guests also had plenty of time to return for repeat visits. Michelle supplied her own guest book which quickly started filling up as the fun in the photo booth unraveled.
We could not have had a better first time experience at Auchen Castle. Despite the not so nice Scottish weather the grounds and castle remained impressive and so full of that old Scottish character. The staff on site were super friendly and able to help with any questions we had. Not to mention Michelle & Darren along with all of their guests, some of which had traveled all the way from Australia were an absolute joy to entertain.
We really look forward to returning to Auchen Castle to do it all again in October 2019. If you are still on the hunt for a wedding venue in Scotland, particularly a castle then we would definitely recommend checking out Auchen Castle. Even if it’s just to score it off your list you need to experience the venue first hand.
Wishing the new Mr & Mrs Caird the very best for the future and thank you to all of the team at Auchen Castle.
